You’ve probably heard of Michael Pollan or a few of his books, like The Omnivore’s Dilemma, or In Defense of Food. In Food Rules, Pollan attempted to lay out some very simple rules for eating wisely. The only problem is, the big food brands keep outsmarting him by turning his rules into reformulated positioning – making their unhealthy foods seem healthy by using some “marketing Jiu-Jitsu”. Pollan jokingly acknowledges that the big brands are “so much smarter than I am”, so he’s countered with a trump-card rule for us all to follow, presented in this 3-minute speech.
